USI wins 17th straight at home, 77-60

The University of Southern Indiana women’s basketball team won its 17th straight at the Physical Activities Center with a 77-60 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday afternoon. USI raises its record to 6-2 overall, 3-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while UWP falls to 1-5, 1-3 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles used a 22-9 run midway through the first half to distance themselves from the Rangers and went into the locker room with a 40-29 halftime lead. In the second half, the Eagles extended their lead to as many as 25 points (73-48) with five minutes to play in the game.
USI continued apply a stifling defense, forcing 29 UWP turnovers. Only once this season has an opponent left the gym with fewer than 27 turnovers against the Eagles.
Individually, USI was led by sophomore forward Jessica Stuckman (Quincy, Illinois), who scored 19 points. Stuckman was followed by senior guard Jasmine Moore (Chicago, Illinois) with 12 points, while senior forward Casey Hughes (Bicknell, Indiana), senior center Michelle Irwin (Louisville, Kentucky), and junior guard Erin Wall (New Albany, Indiana) had 10 points apiece.
USI will return to the road next week, traveling to the University of Indianapolis on Thursday, December 6, and Northern Kentucky University on Saturday, December 8. The next home game for the Eagles will be Saturday, December 15, when they host Grace College (IN) in a 5:15 p.m. contest.
