Sherrod earns GLVC “Player of the Week” honors!
University of Southern Indiana women’s basketball junior forward/center Africa Sherrod (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) earned Great Lakes Valley Conference “Player of the Week” honors for her performance against Grace College this past Saturday evening.
Sherrod connected on seven-of-nine shots from the floor, including one-for-one from behind the arc, and finished with the game with 18 points. She posted her first double double at USI after posting a USI career-high 10 rebounds.
Sherrod is the second USI player to earn “Player of the Week” honors this season. Sophomore forward Jessica Stuckman (Quincy, Illinois) earned the award for her efforts in the Disney Wide World of Sports Division II Tip-off Classic.
The Eagles, who are ranked 10th in the nation and are posting an 8-3 record, will host 14th-ranked Northern Michigan University tomorrow evening at the Physical Activities Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
