Farmer's run for finals falls short despite season-best effort
University of Southern Indiana women's track and field junior distance runner Jenny Farmer (Princeton, Indiana) ran a season-best 4:58.97 in the mile at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships this evening in Boston, Massachusetts. However, Farmer's bid to reach the finals came up short as she finished sixth in her heat of the preliminaries and :00.2 seconds behind the cut.
Farmer, who won the mile at the Great Lakes Valley Conference, qualified for the Indoor Championships as a provisional and entered with the ninth-fastest time of the season. Farmer and the rest of the Screaming Eagles will now prepare for their outdoor season, which begins Friday, March 22, at the Washington University Mini-meet in St. Louis, Missouri.
