Hipple signs with USI for track and cross country
The University of Southern Indiana cross country and track team announced the signing of Sunny Hipple (Corydon, Indiana) to a letter of intent for the 2002-03 seasons. Hipple is the fifth signnee of the year for USI Head Coach Mike Hillyard.
Hipple has shined for Corydon County High School in track, especially in 800m run. She set the CCHS school record, won the county championship with a record setting time, and was a state qualifier last spring.
During track this spring, Hipple will be seeking her third straight All-Conference award. She already has been selected to represent Indiana on the Indiana Track and Field team in Australia.
To start her senior year, Hipple was All-Conference, All-Sectional, All-Regional and was a semi-state qualifier in cross country at CCHS. She also had been named honorable mention All-State in basketball by Hoosier Basketball Magazine and All-Sectional.
Hillyard is very excited to have an athlete of Hipple caliber coming to USI. “Sunny will certainly make an immediate impact for us on the track,” said Hillyard. “She can compete in every distance from 200m up to the mile, as well as the mile relay.”
