USI women’s cross country places second at GLVC Championships,
Place three on All-GLVC team
The University of Southern Indiana women’s cross country team finished second at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships Saturday morning in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Screaming Eagles had three runners place in the top seven and earn All-GLVC honors, but finished 13 points behind the University of Wisconsin-Parkside for the team championship.
Sophomore Casey Schneider (New Salisbury, Indiana) was the front-runner for the Eagles. Schneider finished third with a 6k time of 22:31 and earned All-GLVC honors for the second consecutive season.
Freshman Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana) edged out junior Jenny Farmer (Princeton, Indiana) for sixth. Both finished with a 6k time of 22:42, but Cooksey crossed the finish line just in front of Farmer. Both earned All-GLVC honors. It is the second time Farmer has earned All-Conference honors.
The Eagles will make their run at the NCAA II Championships Saturday, November 9, as they compete at the Great Lakes Regional Championships in Allendale, Michigan.
