USI women’s cross country advances to nationals
The University of Southern Indiana women’s cross country team qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships for the first time since 1999 with a fifth-place showing at the Great Lakes Regional Championships Saturday morning at the Rolling Hills Golf Course in Hudsonville, Michigan. The Screaming Eagles finished the meet with 169 points and had two runners finish in the top 15.
Junior Jenny Farmer (Princeton, Indiana) was USI’s top finisher. Her 6k time of 22:37.0 placed her 11th in the field. Sophomore Casey Schneider (New Salisbury, Indiana) finished 15th with a 6k time of 22:53.3. Both earned All-Region honors for their efforts.
Five teams were able to advance out of the women’s regional and into the National Championships. The Eagles will participate at nationals Saturday, November 23, in Ashland, Ohio.
