USI’s Boberg claims another championship

University of Southern Indiana women’s track and field freshman high jumper Abby Boberg (Bicknell, Indiana) claimed another championship Saturday at the DePauw University Invitational in Greencastle, Indiana. Boberg took first in the high jump with a leap of 5-foot-8.
Other top finishers from the women’s squad included sophomore distance runner Cassie Bartelt (Huntingburg, Indiana), freshman middle distance runner/high jumper Ashleigh Griechen (Valparaiso, Indiana), and freshman distance runner Sunny Hipple (Corydon, Indiana).
Bartelt finished second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:40.97 while Griechen finished third in the 600 meters (1:44.33) and in a tie for fourth in the high jump (5-foot-0.25). Hipple finished fourth in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:23.46.
The women’s squad finished ninth, out of 14 teams, with 31 points while the men’s team finished in a tie for last after having just one competitor score—freshman Matt Clark (Evansville, Indiana) finished sixth in the 600 meters with a time of 1:30.61.
USI top distance runners competed in the Cannon IV Classic Friday and Saturday. Results from the event will not be released until Monday.
