USI’s Cooksey finishes 11th despite record performance,
One spot away from finals

University of Southern Indiana women’s middle distance runner Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana) finished 11th in the prelims of the mile run at the NCAA II Indoor Track and Field National Championships Friday afternoon in Boston, Massachusetts.
Cooksey finished the race with a school-record time of 4:58.09, but missed out on the prelims by one spot. Competitors in the event needed to finish in the top three of their respective heat or post one of the next four best times.
USI high jumper Abby Boberg (Bicknell, Indiana) will get her shot to compete Saturday. Boberg is third in the nation with her 5 foot, 8 inch jump. Results from the race are attached.
