USI’s Boberg leaps to All-America status,
Eagles’ first female track and field All-American
Results
Freshman high jumper Abby Boberg (Bicknell, Indiana) became the University of Southern Indiana’s first women’s indoor track and field performer to earn All-America honors after finishing in a tie for sixth at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships Saturday afternoon in Boston, Massachusetts.
Boberg jumped 5 feet, 5.75 inches (1.67 meters) to place her as the top freshman in the event and give the USI women’s squad their first score at nationals in the program’s history.
Earning All-America accolades adds to what is becoming an impressive resume in Boberg’s first season with the Screaming Eagles. Boberg has recorded five first-place finishes, including a GLVC Championship, and earned All-GLVC honors. She holds the school-record and the GLVC Indoor Championship record in the high jump.
USI will start the outdoor season Saturday, March 29, when they run a split squad at the North Carolina State Invitational in Raleigh, North Carolina, and at the Gerald England Track and Field Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana.
