USI cross country receives national rankings,
Women ranked seventh Men ranked 23rd

The University of Southern Indiana women’s cross country program is ranked seventh in the first installment of the NCAA Division II Top 25 while the USI men’s cross country team is ranked 23rd.
The Screaming Eagles recently competed at the Belmont Opener last Friday and will return to action next Friday, September 19, when they travel to Terre Haute to compete in the Indiana Intercollegiate.
USI’s women also were ranked third in the Great Lakes Region while its men were ranked fifth.
Leading the men’s squad is junior Doug Schwartz (Centralia, Illinois) and sophomore Jesse Davis (Bloomington, Indiana). Schwartz finished third at the Belmont Opener with a 5k time of 14:55.27 while Davis finished 19th with a time of 15:36.41.
Senior Jenny Farmer (Princeton, Indiana) and sophomore Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana) lead the women’s squad. Farmer finished ninth at the Belmont Opener with a 2-mile time of 11:18.41 while Cooksey finished 14th with a time of 11:24.12.
