USI’s Cooksey breaks school record,
Wins sixth straight race
Results
University of Southern Indiana women’s track and field sophomore runner Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana) set a school record in the mile Friday night at the Hoosier Hills Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana. Cooksey ran the race in 4:56.81 to win her sixth consecutive race of the indoor season.
Joining Cooksey with top five finishes was sophomore Abby Boberg (Bicknell, Indiana) and freshman Erin Kutcosky (West Frankfort, Illinois). Boberg finished second in the high jump with a leap of five feet, 5 ¾ inches, while Kutcosky finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 35 feet, 6 ¾ inches.
USI’s men’s squad and other members of the USI women’s squad are competing at the DePauw Classic today. Results will be posted on Sunday.
The Screaming Eagles will compete at the GLVC Indoor Championships next Saturday, February 28, in Romeoville, Illinois.
