Eagles record three first-place finishes at DePauw
Results
The University of Southern Indiana men’s and women’s track and field teams took home three first-place finishes Saturday at the DePauw Classic in Greencastle, Indiana. The meet was the Screaming Eagles’ last tune up for next weekend’s GLVC Indoor Championships.
Junior Casey Schneider (New Salisbury, Indiana) and sophomore Abby Boberg (Bicknell, Indiana) both posted first place finishes to spur the USI women’s squad to a sixth-place finish. Schneider won the 3,000 meters with a meet-record time of 10:31.97, while Boberg won the high jump with a leap of five feet, 4 ¼ inches.
Freshmen Candace Perry (Anderson, Indiana) and Molly Gilland (Osgood, Indiana) also posted top five finishes for the women’s squad. Perry finished second in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet, nine inches, while Gilland finished third in the high jump with a jump of five feet, 2 ¼ inches.
USI men’s junior Doug Schwartz (Centralia, Illinois) finished first in the 3,000 meters, helping the men’s squad to a 10th-place finish. Schwartz finished the race with a time of 8:40.84.
Junior Will Siemers (Bensenville, Illinois) and freshman Luke Keller (Jasper, Indiana) each posted top five finishes as well. Siemers finished second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:50.01, while Keller recorded a throw of 44 feet, 3 ¼ inches, to finish second in the shot put.
USI will compete in the GLVC Indoor Championships Saturday, February 28, in Romeoville, Illinois.

USI’s Cooksey breaks school record,
Wins sixth straight race
University of Southern Indiana women’s track and field sophomore runner Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana) set a school record in the mile Friday night at the Hoosier Hills Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana. Cooksey ran the race in 4:56.81 to win her sixth consecutive race of the indoor season. (More)
