Eagles get three national qualifiers,
Boberg/Cooksey lead Eagles with first place finishes

The University of Southern Indiana track and field team had three competitors meet NCAA II provisional qualifying standards this past weekend at the Butler Twilight in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Women’s competitors Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana) and Abby Boberg (Bicknell, Indiana) each finished first in their respective events to lead the Screaming Eagles. Cooksey won the 3,000 meters, posting a provisional qualifying time in her fourth different event this spring, with one of the nation’s fastest times (9:42.57).
Boberg recorded a solid provisional qualifying jump of five feet, 7 ¾ inches to finish first in the high jump.
Senior Doug Schwartz (Centralia, Illinois) finished second in the 5,000 meters with a strong provisional qualifying time of 14 minutes, 30.81 seconds to lead the men’s squad. Schwartz was just three-tenths of a second off the winning pace.
The Eagles will return to Indianapolis next Friday and Saturday, May 13-14, to compete in the GLVC Championships.
