Cooksey finishes fifth at Tyson Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—University of Southern Indiana junior All-American Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana) finished fifth Friday night at the Tyson Invitational. Cooksey finished the race in a season-best four minutes, 54.56 seconds.
Cooksey was second among the five NCAA Division II runners competing in the race. Abilene Christian University’s Olha Kryv’vak was fourth with a time of four minutes, 51.91 seconds. Nike’s Treniere Clement won the race with a blistering time of four minutes, 39.21 seconds.
A replay of Friday night’s Tyson Invitational can be seen on ESPN 2 tonight from 8 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
Cooksey will run the mile on USI’s Distance Medley Relay Team tonight. The men’s DMR also will be in action as well as sophomore All-American long jumper Candace Perry (Anderson, Indiana).
The Screaming Eagles also sent a squad to compete in the DePauw Invitational in Greencastle, Indiana today as well.
