EMPORIA, Kan.—University of Southern Indiana women's track and field junior
Missy Burgin (Sellersburg, Indiana) finished ninth in the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase Saturday evening, while senior
Crystal Stock (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) was 15th in the prelims of the 5,000 meters late Friday night at the NCAA II Outdoor Championships.
Burgin was in sixth place with approximately 75 meters to go before clipping a hurdle and slipping three spots. She crossed the finish line in 11 minutes, 12.57 seconds, less than two seconds shy of eighth place and an All-America award.
Stock, who was third in the 3,000 meters Friday evening, finished 15th in the prelims of the 5,000 meters with a time of 18 minutes, 28.60 seconds Friday night. She earned All-America honors in the 3,000 meters.
As a team, the Screaming Eagles finished in a tie for 33rd in the team standings with six points.
