EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana sophomore
Allison Shafer (Plainville, Indiana) will be looking to earn her first All-American award when she competes at the NCAA II Championships Saturday at the Division II Fall Sports Festival in Pensacola, Florida. The 6k race is scheduled for a 10:15 a.m. start.
Shafer, who qualified as an individual with her second-place finish at the regional championship meet, has been outstanding in the lead role for the Screaming Eagles this year. She has finished in the top two in five of USI's six races this season, including first-place finishes at the GLVC Championships and the USI Alumni Opener.
In order to earn All-American status, a runner must be one of the top 30 U.S. born runners.
