BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— The University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team nearly posted an NCAA II automatic qualifying time in the distance medley relay at the Hoosier Hills Invitational Friday evening.
USI finished second in the event, posting a time of 11 minutes, 58.81 seconds. The team was comprised of senior Missy Burgin (Sellersburg, Indiana), freshman Lauren Crick (Evansville, Indiana), and sophomores Christy Dixon (Owensboro, Kentucky) and Allison Shafer (Plainville, Indiana).
Sophomore Kathy Goebel (Evansville, Indiana) also posted a top-five finish Friday evening. Goebel placed fifth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10 minutes, 30.61 seconds.
The Screaming Eagles return to action next Saturday when they compete at the GLVC Championships in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
