CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.—The University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team weathered its way through bitter-cold temperatures to recorded six top-five finishes Saturday at the Gatorade Classic.

Senior
Missy Burgin (Sellersburg, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles with a second-place finish in the 1,500 meters and a third-place showing in the 800 meters.
Freshman
Sarah Whiteman (Bloomington, Indiana) and sophomore
Marcia Weflen (Rossville, Indiana) were second and third, respectively, in the 5,000 meters, while sophomore
Allison Shafer (Plainville, Indiana) was third in the 1,500 meters and fellow classmate
Sarah Baysden (Shelbyville, Indiana) placed fifth in the 5,000 meters. USI also was fifth in the 4x400-meter relay.
The Eagles return to action when they run a split squad next weekend. Most of the squad will compete at the Indiana Little State Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana, Friday and Saturday while a few competitors will participate at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California, on Friday.
