Ballinger earns GLVC honors

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana sophomore
Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana) has been named the GLVC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week after a strong performance at the Greater Louisville Classic this past Saturday.
Ballinger finished 32nd, in a field of 239 runners, with a 5k time of 18 minutes, 20.49 seconds. Her efforts lifted the 25th-ranked Screaming Eagles to a team score of 429 points and a finish of 17th in the 28-team field, which featured 20 NCAA Division I institutions.
This marks the first time this season that a USI women's has garnered GLVC Runner of the Week honors and the seventh time since the award was started in the fall of 2005.
USI returns to action Friday when it competes at the Millikin Challenge in Decatur, Illinois.
