Dixon leads Eagles to sixth-place finish at Tiger Invitational

GREENCASTLE, Ind.—Junior
Christy Dixon (Owensboro, Kentucky) finished first in the mile to lead University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team to a sixth-place finish at the Tiger Invitational Friday night.
Dixon finished the event in five minutes, 16.39 seconds, to claim her first-career individual championship.
The Screaming Eagles, who only had five competitors competing Friday night, finished with 18 points.

Lauren Crick (Evansville, Indiana) aided the Eagles' effort with a third-place showing in the 800 meters, while freshman
Allison Laird (Greenville, Indiana) scored two points for USI with her seventh-place showing in the 3,000 meters.
Senior
Stephanie Schilling (Moores Hill, Indiana) and freshman
Carmisha Leary (Indianapolis, Indiana) rounded out USI's performances with 10th-place finishes in the 3,000 meters and shot put, respectively. Leary broke her own school-record in the shot put with a heave of 37 feet, 8.75 inches.
The rest of USI's runners are slated to compete at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Indiana, today. USI will run a full squad next Saturday at the DePauw Invitational in Greencastle, Indiana.
