EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana men's and women's track and field teams announced that they will be sending a small group of runners to the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg, Virginia, Friday and Saturday in addition to their scheduled meet—the EIU Friday Night Special—Friday in Charleston, Illinois.
The women's distance medley relay team—consisting of senior Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana), junior Christy Dixon (Owensboro, Kentucky), and sophomores Lauren Crick (Evansville, Indiana) and Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana)—will compete at Virginia Tech as will men's senior Tristan Mannix (Crothersville, Indiana).
Mannix is looking to strengthen his NCAA II provisional qualifying time in the 5,000 meters, while the women's DMR is looking to post a provisional time for the first time this season.
The Screaming Eagles compete at the GLVC Championships March 1 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, while the NCAA II Indoor Championships are March 14-15 in Mankato, Minnesota.
