Eagles grab two individual crowns

RICHMOND, Ky.—Senior April Hensley (Abilene, Texas) and sophomore Christy Dixon (Owensboro, Indiana) both notched first-place finishes to lead the University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team at the Eastern Kentucky University Open Friday night.

Hensley was first in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 27.60 seconds, while Dixon won the 1,500 meters with a time of four minutes, 41.85 seconds. It also marked Hensley's first-career collegiate victory.
In all, the Screaming Eagles had seven top-10 finishes, including four top-10 marks in the 3,000 meters.
Sophomore
Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana) was second in the 3,000 meters, while junior
Allison Shafer (Plainville, Indiana) and Dixon were sixth and seventh, respectively. Freshman
Holly Bartelt (Huntingburg, Indiana) was ninth in the 3,000 meters, while sophomore
Lauren Crick (Evansville, Indiana) was third in the 800 meters.
USI is scheduled to run a split squad next weekend as part of the team will travel north to take part in the Hillsdale "Gina" Relays in Hillsdale, Michigan, April 25-26. The rest of the squad will compete at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Twilight in Edwardsville, Illinois, April 26.
