Junior
Marcia Weflen (Rossville, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles with a seventh-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while sophomore
Christy Dixon (Owensboro, Kentucky) was eighth in the 1,500 meters.
Dixon posted USI's lone NCAA II provisional qualifying mark with her time of four minutes, 38.54 seconds. The time, however, did not improve on her season-best mark of four minutes, 37.95 seconds, which will unlikely make the final cut for nationals.
In addition to Weflen and Dixon, freshman
Holly Bartelt (Huntingburg, Indiana) was ninth in the 3,000 meters, while sophomore
Sarah Whiteman (Bloomington, Indiana) was 10th in the steeplechase.
The Eagles will at least send one runner to the NCAA II Outdoor Championships, which are May 22-24 in Walnut, California. Sophomore
Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana), who has a provisional mark in the 3,000 meters, ranks third in the steeplechase with her automatic qualifying time of 10 minutes, 48.49 seconds.
