Eagles sign prep standout
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's cross country/track and field team announced that freshman Jackie Henderson (Schererville, Indiana) has signed a national letter of intent to compete for Head Coach Mike Hillyard's Screaming Eagles in 2008-09.
Henderson graduated from Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana, where she was a member of the 2007 Nike Team Nationals Midwest Regional championship squad.
A three-time All-Region and All-Sectional performer, Henderson earned All-Semi State, All-Conference, and honorable mention All-State honors as a senior last fall. She helped LCHS to a semi-state record for lowest point total (32) in 2007 after helping her squad to four straight sectional and regional titles.
Henderson also helped her squad to a 21st-place finish at the Nike Team National Championships in 2007.
On the track, Henderson helped lead LCHS to four straight sectional titles and the 2008 regional title.
"Jackie was a key member of one of the best high school teams in the Midwest last year," Hillyard said. "She still has plenty of room to develop and she is excited to be a part of our program. We are thrilled that she is a Screaming Eagle!"
Henderson joins freshman Adrienne Curtis (Louisville, Kentucky) on USI's list of newcomers for the 2008-09 season.
