Ballinger, Curtis lead Eagles to Little State title,
USI runners fifth overall

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—Junior Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana) and freshman Adrienne Curtis (Louisville, Kentucky) led the No. 11-ranked University of Southern Indiana women's cross country team to a first-place finish in the Little State competition of the Indiana Intercollegiates Friday afternoon.

Ballinger was second in the Little State competition and seventh overall, while Curtis was third in the Little State competition and 17th overall.
As a team, the Screaming Eagles finished with 35 points in the Little State competition to pick up their 11th Little State title and first since 2006. Overall, the Eagles were fifth in the 21-team field with a team score of 129.
Juniors
Allison Shafer (Plainville, Indiana) and
Sarah Whiteman (Bloomington, Indiana) also had top-10 finishes in the Little State competition. Shafer was eighth in the Little State competition and 29th overall, while Whiteman placed ninth in the Little State competition and 13th overall.
USI returns to action October 4 when it competes in the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Kentucky. Race time is set for 9:15 a.m. (CST).
