Ballinger earns GLVC Runner of the Week honors
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Junior All-American Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana) was named the GLVC Women's Runner of the Week Tuesday after leading the No. 11-ranked University of Southern Indiana women's cross country team to an eighth-place finish Saturday at the Greater Louisville Classic.

Ballinger, who is earning the cross country honor for the second time this season and the third in her two-year career at USI, finished eighth out of 265 runners, posting a season-best 5k time of 17 minutes, 27.46 seconds. Her time ranks her second all-time at USI in the 5k and is the top time in the GLVC this season.
As a team, the Screaming Eagles finished the Greater Louisville Classic with 251 points in a 32-team field that featured 21 NCAA Division I institutions.
The Eagles return to action October 18 when they travel across town to take part in the University of Evansville Invitational at the UE Cross Country Course. The GLVC Championships are October 25 in Rolla, Missouri.
