Ballinger, Key lead Eagles at Indiana Relays

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—Junior All-American Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana) and freshman sprinter Shelby Key (Chandler, Indiana) posted a pair of top-five finishes to lead the University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team this weekend at the Indiana Relays.

Ballinger was fourth in the mile invitational with a NCAA II provisional qualifying time of four minutes, 58.86 seconds, less than two ticks shy of an automatic mark. Key was fourth in the 200 meters with a school-record time of 26.54 seconds.
As a team, the Screaming had three top-five finishes and seven top-10 performances. Junior
Lacy Williams (Haubstadt, Indiana) was third in the open competition of the mile with a time of five minutes, 13.46 seconds.
Freshmen
Holly Bartelt (Huntingburg, Indiana) and
Jackie Henderson (Schererville, Indiana) were seventh and ninth, respectively, in the open competition of the 3,000 meters, while junior All-American
Allison Shafer (Plainville, Indiana) rounded out the Eagles' top-10 performances with a ninth-place showing in the 3,000-meter invitational.
USI returns to action February 7 when it competes at the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana.
