Eagles finish fifth in DMR,
Four earn All-America status

HOUSTON, Texas—The University of Southern Indiana women's track team will enter the final day of the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships in a tie for 13th place thanks to a strong performance by its distance medley relay team Friday night at the NCAA II Winter Sports Festival.

The Screaming Eagles finished fifth in the event with a time of 11 minutes, 56.95 seconds, a little more than one second back of fourth-place Clarion University. Senior
Christy Dixon (Owensboro, Kentucky) started the relay with an approximate time of three minutes, 38 seconds in the 1,200-meter leg of the event.

Lauren Crick (Evansville, Indiana) followed with a 61.7 second split in the 400-meter leg, while fellow classmate
Lacy Williams (Haubstadt, Indiana) ran the 800-meter leg in approximately two minutes, 21 seconds.

Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana) closed the race by running the mile leg in four minutes, 54 seconds.

All four runners earn All-America honors for their performances. It marks the first time in Crick's, Dixon's, and Williams' career that they have earned All-America status. It is the fourth time Ballinger has earned an All-America award.

Ballinger will go for a fifth All-America honor Saturday evening when she competes in the 5,000 meters at 5:35 (CDT). She was second in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA II Indoor Championships last year.
