Ballinger, Emerick earn GLVC honors
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named University of Southern Indiana junior All-American Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana) its Female Track Athlete of the Week and freshman All-GLVC performer Dustin Emerick (Elmwood, Indiana) its Male Track Athlete of the Week for their respective efforts at the Washington University Invitational last weekend.

Ballinger opened her outdoor season in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by posting an NCAA II automatic qualifying time of 10 minutes, 49.07 seconds, good enough for second in the race. Her time ranks third in the nation and first in the GLVC this season.

Emerick, the GLVC Indoor Freshman of the Year, finished second in the 5,000 meters at the Washington Invitational, posting a personal-best and NCAA II provisional qualifying time of 14 minutes, 41.33 seconds. He ranks 10th in the country and first in the conference this year.
The Screaming Eagles, who announced a change to its schedule Tuesday, returns to action April 16-17 when they send a small contingent of competitors to the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California. The rest of USI's competitors will participate in the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet in Terre Haute, Indiana, April 17.
