USI women’s golf is 13th after day one of Cardinal Classic
Zehner set USI single-round record in first tournament
The University of Southern Indiana women’s golf team posted a team score of 341 after the first round of the Cardinal Classic hosted by Ball State University. The 15 team tournament, which is being played at The Players Club in Yorktown, Indiana, will conclude on Sunday.
USI freshman Amanda Zehner (Henderson, Kentucky) posted a USI single-round record with three-over 75 in her first collegiate tournament. The old USI single-round record of 78 was held by Laura Compton and Jill Young.
Zehner was followed by junior Brandi Irvin (Benton, Illinois), who had a USI career-best 83 in the first round.
The Eagles, who were 13th after the first round, will host their only home tournament of the year on Sunday and Monday, September 15-16, at Helfrich Golf Course.
