Eagle golfers finish eighth at Screaming Eagles Golf Classic
The University of Southern Indiana women’s golf team had its top squad, the red squad, finish eighth at the USI Screaming Eagles Golf Classic at Helfrich Hills Golf Course in Evansville, Indiana. USI’s red squad shot a two-day 694 (351, 343) while USI’s second squad, the blue squad, finished 11th with a two-day total of 779 (384, 395).
Junior Brandi Irvin (Benton, Illinois) shot a two-day 171 and finished in a tie for 23rd to lead the Eagles. Fellow classmate Jennifer Beaman (Evansville, Indiana) and freshman Amanda Zehner (Henderson, Kentucky) tied for 26th after shooting a two-day 172. Beaman set a career-best with her score.
Sophomore Megan Kries (Lebanon, Illinois) continued to show good signs as she finished the second day with a round of 88. Her two-day total of 175 was a career-best and led USI’s blue squad.
DePauw University’s Deborah Garriott held onto her round one lead to take home the individual championship while Brescia University took home the team championship for the second straight year.
The All-Tournament team featured Garriott (149), the University of Indianapolis’s Kim Moore (151) and Amy Wenning (155), and Brescia University’s Dana Langdon (152) and Manda Clements (156).
