USI womens golf continues impressive play,
Fourth after first day of Laker Fall Classic
The University of Southern Indiana womens golf team continued its impressive play Monday afternoon as it took part in the Laker Fall Classic at the Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Michigan. The Screaming Eagles shot an opening-round and school-record 327 to put itself in fourth place in the two-day tournament.
Pacing the Eagles was sophomore Amanda Zehner (Henderson, Kentucky) and freshman Megan Pendergraff (Henderson, Kentucky). Zehner shot a 79, marking the second straight day she has shot under 80, and is in a tie for eighth while Pendergraff is in a tie for 11th after shooting an opening-round 80.
Sophomore Tara Ulmer (Bluffington, Indiana) shot an 82 to go into the club house in a tie for 13th.
USIs performance marked the first time in the programs history that it had six players shoot under 90. Seniors Jennifer Beaman (Evansville, Indiana) and Brandi Irvin (Benton, Illinois) each shot an opening-day 86 to go into the second day in a tie for 32nd while freshman Ashley Ramig (Milan, Indiana) shot an 89 to go into the club house in a tie for 52nd.
The Eagles set the school record for low round Sunday by shooting a 330 to close out the Ferris State Lady Bulldog Invitational. They finished the two-day tournament with a school-record 665.
USI, which is just 12 shots off the lead in the 16-team field, will finish the Laker Fall Classic Tuesday afternoon. USI scores are listed below.
