USI women’s golf in third after day one of Screaming Eagles’ Classic,
Zehner tied for second after opening-round 76

Sophomore Amanda Zehner (Henderson, Kentucky) shot an opening-round 76 at the Screaming Eagles’ Women’s Golf Classic Sunday afternoon at Helfrich Hills Golf Course in Evansville, Indiana. Zehner’s performance has her in a tie for second and the Eagles in third place, just nine strokes off the lead, after the first day of competition.
As a team, USI shot 323 and trail second-place Northern Kentucky University by three strokes. DePauw University paced the 12-team field with a 314 and DePauw’s Jessica Schneider leads all golfers with a 74.
Although she does not count towards its team score, USI freshman Chelsey Swift (Attica, Indiana) shot a 79 and is in a tie for 10th.
The Eagles will close their only home tournament of the season out Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
