USI women’s golf edges NKU for second,
Zehner finishes in tie for fourth

The University of Southern Indiana women’s golf team shot a final-round 321 Monday at the Screaming Eagles’ Classic at Helfrich Hills Golf Course in Evansville, Indiana, to edge defending GLVC Champion Northern Kentucky University for second place. USI finished the two-day tournament, its only home tournament of the season, with a 644, a stroke better than that of the Norse.
After shooting an opening-round 323 on Sunday, the Eagles had four players shoot 81 or better. Sophomore Amanda Zehner (Henderson, Kentucky) finished in a tie for fourth after shooting a second-round 81 to finish with a two-day 157.
Freshman Megan Pendergraff (Henderson, Kentucky) finished eighth after shooting a two-round 159 (81-78) while sophomore Tara Ulmer (Bluffton, Indiana) finished in a tie for 11th after shooting matching 81’s.
DePauw University took home the team championship by shooting a two-round 630 (314-316) while DePauw’s Jessica Schneider won the individual championship after shooting a two-day 152 (74-78).
USI will return to action Sunday and Monday, September 28-29, when it travels to Gosport, Indiana, to compete in the DePauw Small College Invitational.
