USI women’s golf finishes third at DePauw

Senior Jennifer Beaman (Evansville, Indiana) shot an opening-round 79 and a closing-round 83 to lead the University of Southern Indiana women’s golf team to a third-place performance at the DePauw Small College Classic in Gosport, Indiana. Beaman’s performance was good enough for sixth in the field.
As a team, the Eagles shot 334 during the first round and 342 during the second round to finish with a 676 for the tournament. Freshman Megan Pendergraff (Henderson, Kentucky) helped USI’s cause by finishing ninth with a two-day 166 (78, 88).
Host DePauw University finished first with a two-round 640 (321, 319) while DePauw’s Jessica Schneider was the tournament’s medalist, shooting a two-round 151 (76, 75).
The Eagles will now focus their attention on winning a conference championship, something the program has never done. USI will compete in the GLVC Championship next Sunday and Monday, October 5 and 6, at the Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh, Indiana.
