USI women’s golf in fourth after first round of GLVC Championship
Complete Round One Results
The University of Southern Indiana women’s golf team shot a 322 to open the GLVC Championship Sunday at the Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh, Indiana. Despite the strong start, the Screaming Eagles are 21 strokes off the lead as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville shot a blistering 301 to pace the field.
Sophomore Tara Ulmer (Bluffton, Indiana) finished with a 79 to lead the Eagles on the first day of play. Ulmer sits in a tie for eighth and is nine strokes off the lead, a position held by SIUE’s Katie Farrell.
While SIUE has jumped out to a big lead after the first day of action, the positioning for second is a tight race. USI is just three strokes off the University of Indianapolis, which shot a 319 and is in second after the first day. Northern Kentucky University is in third with after shooting a 320 while Quincy University is eight strokes back of USI for fifth place.
The GLVC Women’s Golf Championship will conclude on Monday.
