USI takes third in rain-shortened invitational
The 15th-ranked University of Southern Indiana women's golf team took third in the rain-shortened Bellarmine University Invitational at Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky. USI finished 14 strokes off the pace set by Northern Kentucky University, who won the tournament with a team 334.
Oakland University place second, four strokes ahead of the Eagles, with a 344, while Southern Illinois University Edwardsville was fourth with a 349.
USI was led by senior Brandi Irvin (Benton, Illinois) and sophomore Amanda Zehner (Henderson, Kentucky), tying for seventh with each posting a single-round 84. Senior Jennifer Beaman (Evansville, Indiana) was third on the team with an 88, tying for 13th in the tournament.
Next for the Eagles is the Agnes McMamis Memorial Monday and Tuesday, April 5-6, at the Link Hill Country Club in Greenville, Tennessee. The tournament is hosted by Tusculum College.
