USI women’s golf takes fifth at the Agnes McAmis Memorial
The University of Southern Indiana women’s golf team recorded the third best round on Tuesday to finish fifth in the Agnes McAmis Memorial Tournament hosted by Tusculum College in Greenville, Tennessee. The tournament was held at Links Hills Country Club with a par of 72.
The Screaming Eagles, who began the day in seventh, improved 17 strokes on Tuesday from 338 in the first round to 321 in the second. Sophomore Amanda Zehner (Henderson, Kentucky) was a big part of the improvement, improving nine strokes from 87 to 78 for a two-round 165. Zehner also improved 21 spots in the standings from 41st to 20th.
Overall, USI was led by freshman Megan Pendergraff (Henderons, Kentucky) with a two-day 158 (79-79) to place 6th. She was followed by Zehner and senior Brandi Irvin (Benton, Illinois), who shot a two-day 168 (87-81) and place 28th.
The Eagles, who are in contention to earn a berth in the NCAA Division II East Regional as an at-large team, will conclude the spring season in the Eastern Kentucky University Lady Colonel Classic April 15-17.
