Screaming Eagles finish fourth in East Regional
The University of Southern Indiana women's golf team shot a final round 334 to finish fourth at the NCAA Division II East Regional at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Michigan. The Screaming Eagles shot a three-round 1,003 (328-341-334) in women’s golf’s first appearance in the post-season as a team.
Ferris State University, the host, won the regional with a 964 (325-313-325), one stroke ahead of second place Grand Valley State University with a 965 (322-322-321). Ferris State and Grand Valley State advance to the NCAA Division II Championships at The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes in Longwood, Florida, May 12-15.
The Eagles were led by freshman Megan Pendergraff (Henderson, Kentucky), who shot a three round 247 (79-81-87) to tie for 11th. Pendergraff finished five strokes away from advancing to the NCAA II National Championships as an individual.
Senior Jennifer Beaman (Evansville, Indiana) followed Pendergraff with a three round 251 (84-88-81) in 19th and led USI in the third round with an 81.
Individually, Enid Gage of Grand Valley State (78-78-76) and Kim Keyer-Scott of Northern Kentucky (76-77-79) tied for first, each posting a three-round 232. Keyer-Scott and Jamie Long of Northwood University, who shot a 242 (77-80-85) advanced to the NCAA II National Championships as individuals.
