USI women’s golfers finish third
ALLENDALE, Mich.—The University of Southern Indiana women’s golf team moved up a spot and finished third in the Laker Fall Classic at The Meadows Golf Course. The Screaming Eagles shot a 314 in the final round Tuesday, tying host Grand Valley State for the tournament’s low round, to finish with a two-round score of 639.
Junior Alisha Luigs (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) shot 76 on Tuesday and finished with a two-day total of 156, good enough for a tie for fifth place, to lead the Eagles. Sophomore Megan Pendergraff (Henderson, Kentucky) finished ninth after shooting an 82 in the final round and finishing with a two-round 159. She was tied for second heading into Tuesday’s action after shooting a 77 on Monday.
Freshman Audrey Ramsey (Muncie, Indiana) rounded out USI’s top-20 finishers. Ramsey shot a 77 Tuesday and finished with a two-day 161, putting her into a tie for 13th.
Grand Valley State won the event with a two-day total of 632, while Ferris State placed second with a 637. GVSU’s Melissa Sneller was the tournament medalist after shooting a 151 (77, 74).
The Eagles will return to action this Saturday and Sunday when they compete at the Cardinal Classic at The Players Club in Muncie, Indiana.
