USI women’s golf seventh after first round of Cardinal Classic
First Round Results
MUNCIE, IN – The University of Southern Indiana women’s golf was seventh after the first round of the 36-hole Cardinal Classic hosted by Ball State University at The Players Club in Muncie, Indiana. The Cardinal Classic will complete action with a final round of 18-holes on Sunday.
USI shot a first-round team total of 316, 21 strokes behind tournament-leading Western Michigan University. Western Michigan shot a team 285 in the first round, three-strokes under par.
The Eagles are within five strokes of the top five. Eastern Kentucky University is sixth with a first day 312 and Western Kentucky is fifth with a team 311.
USI was led by sophomore Megan Pendergraff (Henderson, Kentucky), who was tied for seventh with a first round 75. Freshman Alisha Luigs (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) was a stroke behind Pendergraff with a first-round 76 and was tied for 16th after the first day.
