USI women’s golf to test Helfrich Hills
The University of Southern Indiana women’s golf team will get its chance to play in front of a home crowd when it hosts the annual Screaming Eagles’ Golf Classic September 26-27 at the Helfrich Hills Golf Course in Evansville.
Players from 15 schools will tee off Sunday at 10 a.m., while Monday’s final round will have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
USI is averaging a blistering 315.9 strokes per round (spr) this season and is coming off a third-place performance at the Illinois Wesleyan University Fall Classic. The Eagles finished second at the Screaming Eagles’ Golf Classic a year ago.
Sophomore Megan Pendergraff (Henderson, Kentucky) is averaging 78.3 spr and leads a trio of Eagles that are averaging less than 80 spr. Junior Alisha Luigs (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) and freshman Audrey Ramsey (Muncie, Indiana) are averaging 78.9 and 79.0 spr, respectively.
This will be USI’s final tune-up before the GLVC Championship, which is scheduled for October 3-4 at the Piper Glenn Golf Course in Springfield, Illinois.
