USI women’s golfers finish second
Final Results
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women’s golf team shot a 324 in the final round of the Screaming Eagles’ Golf Classic at Helfrich Hills Golf Course Monday to finish second behind Northern Kentucky University. The Norse shot a 316 in the final round to finish three strokes ahead of the Eagles, who led by five strokes heading into the final round.
USI shot a 307 in the first round and finished the tournament with a two-day total of 631.
Junior Alisha Luigs (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) led the Eagles with a fourth-place finish after shooting an 80 in the second round to finish with a 151. Luigs set a school and tournament-record 71 on Sunday, which was tied by two players during the final round.
Sophomore Megan Pendergraff (Henderson, Kentucky) had USI’s low score (77) of the day and finished the tournament in fifth place with a two-round 151.
Rend Lake Community College’s Surita Risseeuw was the tournament’s medalist after shooting a 71 on Monday. She finished the tournament with a 145, a stroke ahead of Brescia University’s Dana Langdon, who also shot a 71 on Monday.
NKU’s Bianca Hutton finished third with a score of 148 (75, 73).
The Eagles return to action October 3-4 when they compete at the GLVC Championships at the Hickory Point Golf Course in Forsyth, Illinois.
