Luigs wins tournament by one stroke
Women’s Golf takes fourth at Laker Fall Classic

ALLENDALE, Mich. – University of Southern Indiana senior Alisha Luigs (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) recorded her first tournament championship of the collegiate season, winning the Laker Fall Classic by one stroke in Allendale, Michigan, Tuesday.

Luigs, who was third by a shot after the first round, posted a two-round 149 (75-74) to finish one stroke better than Drury University’s Tonya Choate. Choate, who had the best score of the second round with a 70, had a two-day 150 (80-70).
The Screaming Eagles placed fourth as a team, moving up four slots in the second round. USI had a two-day 660 (337-323), while host Grand Valley State University posted a two-round 628 (323-305) to win the tournament.
In addition to Luigs, freshman
Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana) was 23rd overall and second on the team with a two-day 166 (86-80).
The Eagles will resume action September 17-18 in the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois. USI will host the Screaming Eagles Golf Classic September 24-25 at Cambridge Golf Course in Evansville, Indiana.
