USI takes third at Classic

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's golf team placed third in the Ray Wright/Screaming Eagles Golf Classic at Cambridge Golf Course in Evansville, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles shot a team 323 on Monday after the tournament was shortened to 18-holes due to heavy rains on Sunday.
DePauw University won the tournament championship with a 316, while the University of Indianapolis placed second two-strokes ahead of USI with a 321.

USI freshman
Kayla Roark (Waterloo, Indiana) was the Eagles' top player, tying for third and was named All-Tournament. Roark, who played as an individual, shot a 77 (-5) to finish four strokes behind the 73 shot by tournament winner Kristi Piepenbrink of Indianapolis.
Roark was followed by freshman
Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana), who tied for seventh with an 18-hole 79, and senior
Alisha Luigs (Mt. Vernon, Indiana), who tied for tenth with an 80.
This was the first year the tournament was played at Cambridge, which is par 72 and has a length of 5,862 yards.
