Luigs leads Eagles to second-place finish

EDINBURGH, Ind.—Senior
Alisha Luigs (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) shot a closing-round 70 to lead the University of Southern Indiana women's golf team to a second-place finish at the GLVC Championship Sunday at the Timbergate Golf Course. USI's finish marks the third consecutive year that the Screaming Eagles, who recorded rounds of 320 and 310, have finished second in the GLVC Championship.
Drury University won the meet, with rounds of 301 and 297 while Drury's Tonya Choate shot a one-under-par 143 (72, 71) to win the individual title.
Luigs's round of 70 was the lowest of the two-day tournament and moved her from seventh to second by the tournament's end. She finished the tournament with a two-round 148 and earned All-GLVC honors for the second consecutive year.
USI had four golfers in the top 20. Freshman
Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana) shot a 78 on Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 159 and in a tie for 13th, while senior
Tara Ulmer (Bluffton, Indiana) closed the tournament with an 82 after opening with a 79 on Saturday. She finished in a tie for 17th.
Sophomore
Audrey Ramsey (Muncie, Indiana) had rounds of 82 and 80 to finish in a tie for 19th, while freshman
Kayla Roark (Waterloo, Indiana) finished in a tie for 28th with rounds of 84 and 87.
