USI wins Bellarmine Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. The University of Southern Indiana women's golf team came back from a three-stroke first round deficit to win the Bellarmine Invitational Tuesday at the Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky. The Screaming Eagles shot a two-day 668 (336-332).
USI trailed the University of Findlay by three strokes, 336-333, after the first round, but bound back to shoot a tournament best 332 in the final round. Northern Kentucky University finished second with a 675 (342-333).
Individually, USI senior Alisha Luigs (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) placed second with a 36-hole 159 (78-81). She was one stroke off the pace set by NKU's Bianca Hutton, who posted a two-round 158 (82-76).
USI freshman Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana) joined Luigs in the top 10 with a two-round 164 (84-80).
The next action for the Eagles will not be until April 14-15 when they play in the University of Illinois Spring Classic at the Stone Creek Country Club in Urbana, Illinois.
