USI women's golf ends season in fourth

FINDLAY, Ohio – The University of Southern Indiana women's golf team finished the 2005-06 campaign by placing fourth in the NCAA Division II East Regional in Findlay, Ohio. The regional, hosted by the University of Findlay, was played at the Findlay Country Club.
USI finished with a 36-hole 1010 (329-331-350), one stroke better than fifth place Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. SIUE shot a 1011 (347-338-326).
Grand Valley State University won the regional and advances to the NCAA Division II National Championships, which it will host May 9-13. GVSU shot a three-round 964 (317-316-331), nine strokes better than second place Ferris State University.
FSU also will advance to the national championships after recording a 973 (328-315-330). Drury University was third with a 987 (325-319-343), while Northern Kentucky University was sixth with a 1026 (343-344-339).
Individually, USI was led by senior Alisha Luigs (Mt. Vernon, Indiana). Luigs tied for eighth with a three-round 244 (77-78-89) and was followed by freshman Kayla Roark (Waterloo, Indiana), who was 18th with a 250 (81-84-85).
