USI women's golf takes fifth in opening tournament

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Southern Indiana women's golf team began the 2006-07 campaign with a fifth-place finish in the Bulldog Golf Invitational, hosted by Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. The Screaming Eagles shot a 36-hole 363 (315-321), 21 shots off the pace set by Ferris State, which posted a 615 (305-310).

USI's top player was sophomore
Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana), who tied for eighth with a 36-hole 155 (75-80). Wiley was tied for third after the third round on Saturday, shooting a 75.
Wiley was followed by sophomore
Kayla Roark (Waterloo, Indiana), who tied for 24th with a 159 (80-79). USI freshman
Brittney Kyler (Columbia City, Indiana), who was playing as an individual, also tied for 24th with a 159 (78-81).
The Eagles remain in Michigan Monday and Tuesday, playing in the Laker Fall Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.
