USI women's golf places third in Laker Fall Classic

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The University of Southern Indiana women's golf team completed its Michigan swing with a third place showing in the Laker Fall Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.

The Screaming Eagles shot a 36-hole 636 (323-313) to finish 10 strokes back of Ferris State University's second place 626 (310-316) and 11 strokes back of GVSU's first place 625 (314-311). USI was fifth after the first round, but passed Catawba College and the University of Indianapolis in the second round to reach third.
Individually, sophomore
Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana) led the Eagles by placing sixth with a 36-hole 154 (79-75). Wiley's 75 in the second round moved her from a tie for 14th up to into the tie for sixth.
Sophomore
Kayla Roark (Waterloo, Indiana) also placed in the top 20, tying for 15th with a 157 (81-76).
The Eagles resume play this weekend, September 9-10, in the Ball State University Cardinal Classic at the Players Club in Muncie, Indiana.
